About the Owner

Stan Hallett

Occasionally I get asked about my logo; "What's with the little girl?" Well, if you look closely there is a "X 6" (times six) next to the little girl. This is representative of my six daughters who are my pride and my joy. There is always one or two painting with me during the summer months.

My eldest daughter Lisa is 35 and lives in Texas with my two grandchildren. Jennifer is 31 an lives in San Diego, California. Sarah 29 is a nurse and lives in La Jolla, California. Ashley 22, was just married last summer and lives in Scarborough, Maine. Rachel likes to do child-care in the summer and is 16. Rebekah works at the Corn Maze at the Pumpkin Valley Farm in Dayton and is 14.

I went into the Marines in 1969 and served four years. A short while after getting out of the Marines I started a business called Hallett Property Maintenance. I catered mostly to property management firms that managed rental houses, condominiums and apartments. My clients liked me very much because they could get a vacated unit rental-ready with one phone call. I cleaned, painted, made repairs as needed.

I started painting exclusively in 1978 with my younger brother David. Our first house was the complete interior of a small 3 bedroom ranch, which seemed to take us forever. We charged way too little, not knowing what we were doing, but it was good experience. It was my brother's first and last house in the painting business, but it was just the beginning of a very long career for me.

I love the gratification I get out of doing quality work using quality materials and transforming a house into something really nice to look at. The results as well as the homeowner's satisfaction, is worth almost as much as the pay I receive for a job well done.

I am very involved with the painting on a daily basis and work side-by-side with the crew on every job. I do all of my own quotes personally, do all of any repair carpentry, pick up most of the supplies and materials used and bring all supplies and equipment to and from the job site.

My painting crew is all personally handpicked by me. All are non-smoking, drug-free and clean-cut professionals.

I am very educated in the field of house painting and related fields, and have over 30 years experience. Because of this I have done consulting work for local attorneys that represent painting contractors and homeowners in Southern Maine. I am also called as an expert witness in such cases.

Our business name evolved from 'Stan Hallett Painting' to 'Maine Painting LLC' as a fairly natural process due to the times. In the old days most of our business came from word-of-mouth, or by flyers, etc. A few years ago I decided it would be a good idea to have a website. Since we already had our own domain name for our family, it seemed like a good idea to make it a sub-domain of that. I created a website at http://stan.hallett.us which still points to us. I realized one day that the URL for the website was a little hard to remember. I looked to see if something simple like mainepainting.com was available. . . it was, so I registered the domain name and moved the website.

I then realized that if there actually was a painting company with the legally registered name of Maine Painting, that I could loose the domain name in arbitration. I decided to see if the name Maine Painting was registered as a corporation. As it turned out it was registered twice before, but was administratively dissolved, or suspended in both cases. I then registered the name legally and that's how we became Maine Painting LLC.

I am a native of Maine, born in Augusta in 1951. I currently live on Bonnie Eagle Pond in Buxton Maine which is right on the York and Cumberland county line about 18 miles inland from downtown Portland. Two of my girls still live at home with my wife Gayle and myself. My two youngest (Rachel and Rebekah) are home schooled.

My primary hobby is the Internet and the computer. I virtually live on the computer and the Internet when I am home. I have created and maintain many websites like the Baltimore Antique Bottle Club and some recent ones for friends such as Ayuh! - Maine's FREE Online Classifieds, the Tozier Group Builders website and others.

We are Christian family with a deep love for the Word of God. We also enjoy boating, golfing, target shooting, dining out, sports, movies and just about anything we can do together as a family.
